Fireworks in the Mediterranean

Interior design · Lighting design · Interior finishes

A pool house lit by a set of custom pendant lights, designed from scratch by Luxton Architecture.

The lights began as a geometric star pattern, drawn up in CAD and tested as a hand-cut paper model. The final pattern was cut from copper sheet in four sizes and hung in clusters beneath the skylights and timber beams. By day, they read as fine copper lace against the white ceiling. At night, the light passes through the pattern and throws star-shaped shadows across the ceiling, like fireworks bursting overhead.

The finishes take their cue from the Mediterranean. Textured white wall tiles catch the light from the skylights, a soft grey stone surrounds the pool, and a decorative screen frames the view at the far end. Together they create a calm, bright space that feels like a holiday at home.
