Touchwood
The Loop, Blairgowrie

This beach house celebrates everything timber. It was renovated for a family of timber merchants, so wood was always going to tell the story.

Timber wraps the house from floor to ceiling. It warms the long gallery hallway, lines the walls and joinery, and leads up the stair to the first floor. Each species and grain was chosen with care, so the house feels like a showcase of the family’s craft as much as a place to escape to.

Through the coastal bushland, the house looks out across Port Phillip Bay, and the views frame the warm, open plan living spaces. Wide glazing brings the light and landscape inside. Pops of colour, from deep reds to ocean blues, nod to the beach and give the timber a playful, relaxed edge.

It is a home made for long summers, family gatherings and slow days by the bay.
